We think it's important to have a connection with your training, so we want our first blog post to be all about the coach behind the plans, Arturs Bareikis! Here is an introduction from Coach Arturs about his history and journey with running and heart rate training.
My name is Arturs Bareikis and I have been runner and coach for many years.
As a runner I have always been a student of the game and I was always curious how to get better and improve in this sport.
I always asked a question what can we do to get better? Is there any others methods to improve and make distance running easier?
Then I discovered heart rate training in 2011 when I was in training Camp in Portugal. It really got my attention because now I didn't have to worry about a certain pace to run but effort on day to day training. I started applying this training to my running and noticed a huge difference. I went from 2:42 Marathon to 2:29 in one year. I knew I was on to something that made running enjoyable and a new way to improve.
I no longer felt the pressure of running certain pace but now I had a heart rate range for every session. It felt amazing because I could not have a bad session because as long as I did my training in correct zone and I was improving.
I was able to master the training to a good level and now I wanted to help others because I was seeing many people struggling and not improving. Heart rate training was a way to run free and run with effort while getting amazing results. Not only the results improved but the injury rates went down.
During my running career heart rate training has allowed me to run National record of Latvia in 50km ( 31 Miles) race at 5:46 pace. Also having half marathon of 1:06:50 which is 5:06 per mile, and Marathon of 2:23:17 ( 5:27 pace).
As a coach I always loved helping others and I coached in High school for 8 years and 5 years in college. But my real love of coaching started when I was coaching my wife from never being a runner in 2017 to now Olympic Trials qualifier and best of 2:29:00 Marathon while using Heart rate training.
My dream as a coach is to always teach people how to use my heart rate method so that you can enjoy running and achieve your best version of yourself. By using a Heart rate method you will discover the best version of yourself and there will be many new personal best moments.
All you need is a watch, and Heart rate monitor and you will be ready to start training in a way that you have never trained before. It will take time but in the long run you will be amazed of the results you achieve while also enjoying the process. The main objective in running has always been to enjoy it and Heart rate training will help you to enjoy and find yourself again!
