The 8-Week Advanced Base Plan is designed for runners who are already logging 35-50 miles per week and aim to run 6 days a week with 1 rest day.
If you prefer running 5 days a week, simply add an extra rest day on one of the scheduled running days.
To follow this plan, you should comfortably run for 60 minutes a day and be capable of completing a long run of 75-90 minutes without stopping.
This 8-week base plan will elevate your aerobic fitness before you begin training for a specific race goal.
When to use this plan:
Use it between training seasons or when you need to enhance your aerobic base. This plan includes 3 tests to track your fitness level over the 8 weeks. Expect to see weekly improvements, with significant gains by week 4 and week 8. After completing this 8-week base training, you'll be ready for any advanced training plan!
